Varian Liberty Series II ICP-AES
Inductively Coupled Plasma - Atomic Emission Spectrometer  (ICP-AES)

The Varian Liberty II is an axially-viewed sequential ICP-AES. It is a computer controlled fully automated instrument providing state-of-art atomic emission spectroscopy measuring capability. The instrument can measure trace concentrations of the metal elements in the parts-per-million (ppm) and parts-per-billion (ppb) range over a wavelength range of 189-940 nm.
The samples are vaporized in an argon plasma torch operating at 10,000 C (18,000 F) and the resulting atomic emission spectra are analyzed to determine the elements and concentrations present in the sample.
The computer control is managed by the ICP Expert software package. Samples are handled by the SPS-5 Autosampler (not shown).
